Perhaps because I had been to Japan twice before but wasted. The first time I was too young even to recall my memories (circa 1964), and the second time (late February 1971) the plane which brought us back from Vancouver to HongKong first called at Alaska then Tokyo where it was re-fuelled. We stayed the night in the airport hotel in Tokyo. The next morning I had milk for breakfast. The flavour was so special it is still impressed in my memory till this very moment. Maybe I wanted to try once more the taste of milk from those specially bred Japanese cows. Hm ... !
Perhaps because Raymond had been to Honshu a few years ago and later acquired some Japanese language from a local Japanese course.
Also perhaps we both love Japanese food. So Japan was our choice.
The next problem facing us was of course, which tour to join. There was a myriad of choices: Honshu, Kyushu, Hokkaido, Honshu-Kyushu ... etc, and a choice of 4-day tours up to 12-days! After a series of tedious screening - budget, date and destination were factors of consideration - we agreed on a 7-day tour of Kyushu. I have to admit that the desicion leaned more to my favour. The famous Beppu spas were my major point of attraction while Raymond wished to visit the Huis Ten Bosch & Holland Village. So did I.
